Type 2 Over the counter meds

I have been told I can not take ibuprofen but due to getting the occasional migraine due to sinusitis, being on metformin can I take decongestants such as sudafed max strength (red box) and can I take hayfever tablets??

Any advise would be great, I’m not due to see the nurse again until end Feb/March.

I'm afraid we aren't qualified to give this advice, other than from personal experience. However, a quick call or visit to your pharmacist would probably solve matters for you. Pharmacists are the experts.

Don't forget to tell the pharmacist if you have any other medical conditions or take other medication. I can't take decongestants because of high blood pressure and the medications I take for it.

You have my sympathy. I have chronic sinusitis but a few years ago I discovered something that cleared it for the first time in decades. The Salitair is a salt pipe that you just breathe through for 15 mins twice a day. It uses dry salt crystals and causes no pain though you are left with a very slight salty taste at the back of your throat, this didn't bother me a bit. The only drawbacks are price (Mine cost £25 about 8 years ago) and the fact that it can take weeks to feel any difference (Six weeks for me but to finally have that cricket ball shoved up the nose feeling disappear was heaven). My sinusitus returned about 18 months after the pipe had cleared it up so I used it again and Voila!

Have a word with your pharmacy. They'll advise you. When I asked for ibuprophen I was told to use paracetamol.

as a diabetic it increase your risk of heart problems my gp stopped mine. im now allowed paracetamol or opiates as all nsaids are out. thats just me cant give advice on your health. have a quick chat with your gp or chemist.

Paracetamol is all I am allowed after my last operation I was given oramorph and like a fool I took it big mistake.
