I am a diabetic who has Chronic Kidney Disease, I have 6 sessions per week of Home haemodialysis, I am obese and If I have any chance of getting on the kidney transplant list, I will need to lose at least 20Kgs.
I really do not want bariatric surgery, so I was thinking about taking Ozempic once a week. According to my renal consultant, although it would be so much better for my health to lose weight, he is reluctant to say I could go on this medication because no one has researched diabetics on dialysis before. I am totally willing to be a guineapig but he is still not sure.
Has anyone on this forum used Ozempic while on dialysis? If so how did you persuade your consultant/GP to prescribe it.
I would really love to hear people's thoughts on this.
Thank you
