Currently my biggest dislike is monitoring my blood glucose by finger pricking, it is a source of annoyance that outweighs so many things I could list as a dislike. Generally I can accept most things but since my diagnosis last October 2021 worries about my health are constant.
I have been receiving Personal Indepence Payment -P.I.P. - since 2019 for various ailments, I was diagnosed as Type 1 in October 2021 whilst in Prison and made DWP aware of it on my release in February 2022.
However I had a telephone interview in April 2023 with DWP and as of today 13th June 2023 been told that my claim was stopped in May, I hadn't received the payment that I was expecting so made the necessary phone call - 50 minutes waiting for a human to speak to - they claim that I had been sent a letter explaining why the payment had ceased, and I have asked for it to be sent again as I hadn't received it.
I am unsure as to why my claim was stopped and wondered if anyone else has had problems with this benefit?
I have had no changes since my last review and the only problem I can think of is that I have not seen the Diabetic Nurse since last year or a GP for anything other than a diagnosis of D.V.T. last summer.
Since the telephone appointment in April I have tried booking an appointment with the Nurse and GP and was sent away with a blood test form - 2 weeks for an appointment and a week after test I received a text saying the results have been received and to book an appointment with the GP A.S.A.P. - could the DWP have been told that I haven't seen a Nurse or GP since last year and think that my conditions have improved?
Todays news has stressed me out and I am struggling to make an appointment with my Local Surgery - unfortunately today of all days the surgery has implimented a new system to book appointments online for a triage service before issuing appointments.
Any advice or guidance would be of great benefit to me, somedays I just really despair and I often wonder if it would be easier attending A & E to see a GP? I won't though as I am sure that they are under enough pressure as it is.
Sorry to sound like a moaner!

Hi @IainTarr ,

Your PIP was probably , previously awarded to a set amount of time. Your recent telephone assessment seems to have resulted in you not being awarded enough points to continue on the benefit.
You are entitled to ask for a reconsideration of the recent DWP decision. There is a time limit on this, so you need to act quickly. Citizen Advice centres, or local Welfare Benefits centres should be able to assist you in appealing the decision. PIP is awarded not for the medical condition, but for how the condition affects daily living. You need to be specific in explaining this in any benefit appication, with supportive evidence of the conditions, such as hospital letters and stements from anyone supporting you.

This is a helpful resource https://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/personal-independence-payment-pip/pip-self-test
Their website is also useful, though full access to all resources requires membership subscription.

You need to act quickly if you want to appeal.
