Pain and Sensitivity

Hi, just wanted to know if anyone on this forum has suffered from pain in the upper abdomen , which is very sharp and my skin has become very sensitive to such an extent, I can't even wear a tea t-shirt on some days. I am type2 and have been now for about 4yrs. This pain is on the left hand side of belly button and sometimes moves up to middle of chest, also forgot to mention the numbness aswell, which feels like the outside of my feet do sometimes. Had this for nearly a year now and lost about 2 stone in weight, so naturally worried myself silly, but had all scans and blood tests etc, but nothing has showed up, I'm starting now to think it has something to do with my Diabetes like nerve damage. Any reply would be much appreciated

Numbness and skin sensitivity can be caused by nerve damage due to diabetes, so it is possible that that's what's causing it. Have you discussed this with your gp, and have they suggested any medication to help? I suffer from diabetic neuropathy and Lyrica takes the edge off the pain. It doesn't take it away, but helps. Not being able to bear even the lightest of clothes to touch your skin is awful, I've had this to a greater or lesser degree for years now, and you have my sympathy.

Thank you very much for reply, I have been to my GP several times, unfortunately with no diagnosis, so I will return and discuss about Lyrica. Must admit my GP has never once mentioned Neuropathy.

Been there done that all you get is a prescription for Opioids, so yeah not only am I in pain but also a Drug addict now I thought by putting this thread on here, it will help and sure enough it has already

I’m sorry you are suffering, being in pain and worrying about what it could be isn’t nice for anyone and can affect your whole life and well-being. If your GP has no answers and your not finding it helpful you are within your rights to ask for a second opinion or to see a specialist. I would go back and ask - we are often not as forthcoming as we should be when visiting our GPs etc. Tell him/her how much it is affecting your life and that you need it sorted be polite but firm - hope you find some answers

Thankyou for some good advice I've just had an MRI Scan so hopefully that will show something up fingers crossed
