Type of diabetes
Type 2
I am experiencing horrendous pain in my outer thigh which peaks in the middle of the night. I am already taking pain relief for osteoarthritis but nothing seems to help at night. I am only getting 2 hours sleep at a time and I cannot sleep on my left side. Awaiting MRI on legs but any suggestions in easing pain would be appreciated. It has progressively got worse over a year. Is this pain related to my diabetes? My blood sugar readings are good.

Let's hope the MRI sheds some light on it, my pain turned out to be pain radiating from my back, into my leg.
chronic pain really gets you down after a while

Hello Jintyb -

From what I've experienced and understand, your symptoms could be a diabetic neuropathy, vitamin b12 deficiency or something related to your osteoarthritis - the fact that it is worth at night is a classic symptom of diabetic neuropathy. This link here describes the 4-types of diabetic neuropathies http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/diabetic-neuropathy/basics/symptoms/con-20033336

Just a question what are your BS numbers?

Thanks for that. I am fairly convinced now that this is diabetic related. My BS numbers are consistently under 10 now following 3 stone weight loss and being prescribed Byetta injections. Before then they were between 14 and 20.
