Can anyone advise me. Luckily since being diagnosed type 2 two years ago I have not had any headaches or anything so have not felt the need to take any pain killers. I did a 10K walk yesterday and today I have quite a few aches and pains and just wondered is it safe to take somthing like paracetamol or ibrofem or something while also taking blood pressure, metformin, actos and simvastin. I could probably get by without taking something but feel it would ease things a bit if took something but just think it is an awful lot of medication etc in one day.
Thanks for any advice.

Paracetamol will be OK.I would check with your doctor re Ibrufen especially if you are taking aspirin or anything like that.

Thank for getting back so quick. I am just about to take my metaformin so will leave it till later and see if I really need anything mabey once I start moving about a bit more the 'aches and pains' will ease off and I wont need anything just wanted to make sure it would be okay if required. Thanks again.

Paracetamol is Ok. I did 5 miles on saturday and 2 more yesterday, but got away with it. I take an occasional paracetamol for recurrent back ache and it's fine.

I am also type 2 - controlled by diet, exercise and metformin.

I would always advise you to take advice from a pharmacist or doctor if you have any concerns at all. Each of us are individual, and are well advised to get advice from someone who knows our own medical situation, including the the medications we take as well as medical conditions.
I, personally, usually talk to a pharmacist about all things drug-related. Which means my boyfriend as he's a pharmacist.

I have just had the best part of a week trying to get rid of a migraine. It was really bad for a day or so, and the pain, but not visual disturbances, lingers on for 3-4 days.
Anyway, I've been taking paracetamol and codeine for the pain, plus ibuprofen and even add in aspirin for the really bad days. My boyfriend is a pharmacist so, on his advice, I am quite happy to take all those pills, but only on a VERY short term basis. More than one day, maybe into a second, and I'm off to the doctors.

I've taken ibrprofen for a few weeks in the past on my doctor's advice. We have also discussed my occasional migraines so, as well as my OH's professional advise, my GP is also happy for me to take paracetamol (including paracetamol and codeine for migraines) and ibuprofen.

She has never mentioned anything to me in relation to my diabetes. I just take them according to the instructions on the pack. Especially any medication with paracetamol in it!

Good advice,Silver.there are a lot of OTC products that contain Paracetamol and it is very easy to overdose if you do not check the labels.

Thank you all for your advice, fortunately I have not needed to take anything the 'aches and pains' are getting better just by moving about more. Although I only walked the 10K did not do enough training this year due to the adverse weather - or is that just an excuse - so body was not prepared! But this is handy advice for the future.
