Pain when injecting

Type of diabetes
Type 1
Up to no I am carb counting with novorapid as my bolus and using levimir as my basal no mater where I inject in my body I am in horrendous pain. I never reuse needles, I always rotate my sites I use 5mm needles
I have tried 4,5,6,8 and 10 mm needles I have tried
novorapid
apidra
humalog
Humalin both medium acting and short
I had the twice daily from Eli lily novo nordisk and sanofi
I tried lantas
Tresiba
Levimir
Toujero
Nothing works at all I'm getting to the point where I am starting to give up and also I'm at the point that I don't want to inject at all DKA is less painful the the injections and I am totally fed up and any help would be greatly appreciated
 
@glavesr Can I just confirm every insulin hurts you?

Where do you inject?

Do you pinch up?
 
Every single one and no I don't pinch while using a 4 or 5 mm needle and I've also been though about 5 or 6 needle brands
I've tried my arms my stomach above and below my belly button my thighs the side of my thighs my buttocks

What is your reason for not pinching with 4 or 5mm needles?
I used 4mm needles (until I got a pump) and it would hurt like billyo if I did not pinch. But squeezing the flesh when I injected made a huge difference to me.

But what do you mean by "pain"? Is it the pain of the needle going in, pain when the insulin goes in or bruises later?

Pinching was not a perfect technique as many of my injections resulted in bruises but at least I could see where I have recent injected to rotate my sites.

Ok - what brand of needles do you use?

When I inject (I'm on a pump now) I always punch up. I've used BD needles since diagnosis and wouldn't change.

I agree with @helensaramay that any injections I did would hurt a lot more without pinching up.
 
@helensaramay after pinching with 4/5 at first my DSN told me not to

Novofine 6mm
Novotwist 5mm
Microfine 4/5/8
Unifine 6/10
Penfine 6mm
Clickfine 6
And I think omnifine 6
 
Ask for BD needles. I personally think they're better quality.

Also, try pinching up. Even if you pinch up and end up needing a slightly longer needle, then if it hurt less that would be fine.

Did it still hurt? Can you describe the pain - eg was it stinging, or like it had 'hit' something inside, or did the insulin sit under the surface of your skin and hurt in that way, etc?

When I first starting I had that sort of pain it was fine I could cope with it now I carnt it is 1000 times worse to the point I am doubled over in pain
And I'm having no luck with doctor or DSN because there answer is pain or not suffer and take the injection
 

BD are microfine I've had them
 

Sorry to ask so many questions but I'm wondering if it's something in the insulin that's causing the pain?

If it was me, I'd try BD needles, pinching up and trying a variety of BD needle lengths, and if that didn't help, I'd suspect the insulin itself.
 
Tried it changed lengths I've tried bd to be fair I have been on them the longest of all I've tried if it was the insulin that should have resolved when I changed from analogue to human or porswine I truly believe it's the needle it's self but I carnt get that though the doctors heads even one injection a day can be hell
 

There are reports of hypersensitivity reactions to human (GM) insulin.

I can't see a porcine insulin in your lists above?

Fingers crossed it will help you. It must be horrible to be in so much pain.
