Hi,
My name is Colin, I was diagnosed T2 about 4 years ago and am now injecting daily and taking meds. I've just past the half century mark and trying to use my sport to help manage my DB condition.
My passion is Paintball.
Since being diagnosed I've returned to the sport I grew up with in my twenties, namely Paintball. I've taken a huge step into Tournament Play and have joined a unique team of players called "Team Unlimited". Why are they unique - well its made up of Disabled players. Three have artificial lower legs, one is blind in one eye, one has a heart murmur, and two of us are Type 2 DB, and you wont meet a nicer bunch of understanding caring souls and as tough as they come when playing on the paintball field. They help me motivate myself, I look, smile, and am proud to play along side them. If they can do and compete with their multitude of issues, then my DB will not stop me either.
Most of the players are southeast based , but we compete all over and have plans to play in Europe and the USA. Our current competition focus is at the CPPS near Stafford. We train at a site near Bricketwood on a bi weekly timetable and over the past year grown in numbers and stature.
So I write this as an introduction about myself, about the great team who are helping me focus on controlling my condition, and as a prompt to anyone else out there with DB who also plays, or wants to learn to play, and thinks paintball could help them get more active and let of some steam.
Our training days are open to all, we can provide all equipment and the site will also help and very much back the team.
So contact me if you want an introduction to paintball, want to discuss paintball topics, or say hello if you see me on a field.
Regards,
Colin
