Pancreatitis

I recently had pancreatitis for which they found no cause. I am type 2 diabetic and my sugars didn't go over 6 since discharge they have been between 9.9 and 20.0. I am using same diet and haven't changed my lifestyle is this normal

Hi Lesley!

Definitely worth mentioning this to your Doctor as it's quite possible that the chronic inflammation that your pancreas suffered during the attack may have caused some damage to the organ and the insulin producing Beta cells and you may need your medication reviewed in light of this.

Went to dr this am has increased metformin to 4 times a day. Has said I may need to use insulin rather worried about this but they think my insulin producing cells have been destroyed.
