Hi I have had a partial foot amputation and am looking for some suitable socks but there all like £40 just for one is there anything cheeper ? Or available on prescription have already developed blisters and wont get my shoe for another 2 weeks been waiting since December thanks

I would go for tue socks or tube/bandages/supports or simply pull an ordinary sock up higher.. Or wear legwarmers as socks. It's hard to work out what's suitable when I don't know the size/shape of foot you have remaining do you have anyone good with a sewing machine in the family or a friend?

My great uncle had his leg amputated from the thigh down from diabetes; whilst it's sad you have part of a foot missing in glad whatever was going bad has bee caught before it took hold of more :(

Hope I could be of some help and take care I those blisters, don't pick at them :/

thanks for your reply and concern littlewolf using normal socks at the minute but theres always slack on the bottom and partial socks are supposed to stop friction. had problems with foot for years hopefully don't end up like your poor uncle :( no disrespect.

None taken!

I can see why you're worried about sores, only a couple months after we tried padding the insert for his wooden leg (it was rubbing him and he got sores) he died so I understand any concern about further complications as well as discomfort from friction :/

I didn't think about that well. If I wear saggy socks in shoes it can rub my feet painfully too (just tried to put boots on over slipper socks) so I see the issue..

Hmm. What about those elasticated footies for ballet pumps? Then they will hopefully just stretch to fit the shape of your foot. I'd say give the elasticated thin natural fiber legwarmers a go too. Maybe tube bandages would be too restrictive and make your feet go numb (bad)

Hopefully someone could cut and re-sew some conventional socks for you :/ cut off socks would fit and not rub but not keep your feets snuggly :/ maybe some wool bootees if you can get someone on Etsy to do it on commission.. Natural fibers that will stretch to accommodate your unique foot shape..

Best of luck to you

X
