Just 10 minutes ago whilst making my way from the dinning room table to the lounge room to watch the news I passed out.

Needles to say my partner was very concerned.

Prior to that I had drunk 2 glasses of wine about an hour earlier and ate 2 whole grain biscuits with cheese and a couple of olives.

I've noticed lately that if I drink wine without eating very much that when I get up from sitting or lying down I feel faint.

Whilst I am not diabetic or even pre diabetic (but getting there in the next year or two if I don't get my act together) was this caused by drinking red wine on a pretty empty stomach which I believe causes ones blood sugar to rise and then fall dramatically.

I have only been noticing these 'light headed' sensations over the last couple of weeks.

Best to get checked out William, no one can say for certain what is the cause, until you do you should leave the wine alone.

Lots of reasons for fainting William. A sudden drop in blood pressure is the usual reason, but there are other reasons. A sudden drop in BP is common enough but you need to find out the cause for this.

Thanks everyone.

I did check my blood pressure and it was 114/73 & 113/74. I have had it go lower.

You need to check it while sitting and then stand up and repeat. If there is a 'postural drop' you are at increased risk of fainting on standing.
