So, there are some interesting points you make here. You say you are eating as you normally do and the drugs are being used as a way to keep your hba1c stable? Thanks for reply
I'm hoping passive smoking could be the cause
As
At least then I can do something about it! Lol
About a year before my bg started going high
I'd been on Metformin x 4 a day
I even wondered if I was still diabetic
As for previous 8 years my blood sugers were never high
MY HBAIC was always normal
After my water infection
MY sugers Dident improve
That was start of this year
They are still at highest in 20. 's
During last 8 years diabetic nurse told me
Ur Hba1c is normal keep on eating as you are
It's working!
Then when my BG went up during few telephone consultation with surgery diabetic nurse
I was always asked " what are you doing?
What are you eating
Eg what am I doing too cause my high sugers
I explained my eating has not changed
Then nurse said a lot of people are overeating or can't get their normal shopping during lockdown
I replied umm OK. But I'm eating as I was so that not a problem
MY high blood sugers was blamed on lockdown by nurse
Nurse asked me too pick up a diabetes booklet from surgery
It was same booklet I was given 9 years ago by surgery
Nurse seemed too act like I'd just been dx and had no clue of what too eat
I even seen a dietitian when first was dx
After few calls where nurse was 100% focused on my eating
And
Hyperglycemia symptoms driving me nuts
Nurse was very slow too increase gliclazide despite my fasting bg 18.6mnol
Eventually I'd had enough the 100% focus she had on my diet
And
She still blamed lockdown during every call
She was speaking too me like I Dident have a clue
Felt very patronising
So I said too her
I feel as if I'm being blamed for my high bg
OMg I got ohh no my love. I'm not doing that at all
Whatever!
She forgot diabetes is progressive and left me too suffer hyperglycemia symptons
Came too point could deal with her
So phoned surgery cancelled her ringing me
And
She still phoned me
Was fuming
Last diabetes nurse I seen was a diffrent one she looked at my hba1c was 84
And
Increased gliclazide no problem
GP seems too on same page as well
And is not blaming me and lockdown
She forgot diabetes is progressive and left me too suffer hyperglycemia symptons
MY fasting blood suger today was 17.3mnol
Then 2 hours after evening meal was 20.3mnol
My (non diabetic) hubby's doctor once said that to him. So he came home and ate 4 Snickers bars as he normally ate what he wanted will no ill effects. 10 years on that is all catching up with him. I do wish HCPs wouldn't make these blanket statements without knowing the facts about the patient's diet. Sometimes the patient is just 'getting away with' a less than perfect diet for a while and it comes as a shock when it no longer works.During last 8 years diabetic nurse told me

I am more prone to infections if I have been in a smoky atmosphere, that includes any smoke at all, but I haven't noticed my BGs going up by much at all.
I was given a booklet when I was diagnosed 10 years ago. It was from Diabetes UK. The dietary advice in there was dreadful. Thankfully I already knew that the carbs with every meal, eat more fruit and have diet drinks advice was not what a T2 should do.

I was prescribed morphine 10 years agoHi, you mention morphine.
I don't know if that's a cause but is that related to increased pain? Pain can impact our levels especially if we are also under a lot of stress
I don't know about the passive smoke I'm afraid but if your pain has increased then it could be an impact in general.I was prescribed morphine 10 years ago
Cos
Kept on being admitted as a emergency due too abdominal chronic pain
Chronic psncreatitus inflamed pancreas
Since been on morphine not been admitted once
Over last year been on forced morphine reduction
Reduced 90 mg a day
A while after I started morphine reduction my blood sugers went up
The nurse asked me if I though morphine reduction was cause of my high bg
I'm like umm how how inknow
So I asked gp
Nurse got back too me and said no morphine not the csuse
I've been taking the morphine every day too control psncreatitus pain
Considering you need creon because your pancreas isn't producing the necessary enzymes for digestion, I'd ask for a C-peptide test and/or a referral to an endocrinologist.I. Ve got chronic pancreatitus
And your T2 diagnosis was 9 years ago?I was prescribed morphine 10 years ago
