Patients who e-mail with doctors see health improvements

I am saddened when I read about the face to face consultation some here have experienced with their G.P.'s. I don't think that the outcome would be any different for them if they used an email facility.
If you have a good G.P. then it might be a good tool, but only if there is a fast exchange.

I'd love to be able to e-mail my GP (Even the surgery) but some are obviously better than others at the whole Interwebz thing.

I'd just be happy if they picked up the phone or returned my call at m,y Diabetes centre at the moment.

I've been trying for 2 weeks now, good job it's nothing urgent

My doctor's surgery have only just come to grips with the telephone!

I suggested an email facility and/or the use of EMIS would be a good addition to the practise - may as well have been talking Swahili  Mind you, the doctor is probably fluent in Swahili!.

I would say this is a long way off here in the UK, although I can book a appointment on-line and e-mail for a repeat prescription at my gp surgery.

I have swopped emails with my DN but it's like it's gone off into the aether gone round the moon a couple of times then popped down the pub, seen some mates, then had kebab or two, got distracted by passing butterflies and then rejoined the normal time stream most of us inhabit... 8)
I read nonsense on the web about medicos et al gearing up with modern comms and it makes me laugh... my GP on Twitter?! The very thought of it.... 8)

!.
My previous doc surgery weren't that advanced!
Patients had to ring from 8am to get an appointment for that morning, but the phone was always engaged or just rang and rang. In desparation I went to the surgery one morning before it opened. I was ringing them on my mobile outside and could see the 2 receptionists ignoring the phone call! Even when I did see the doc, I was lucky if he looked away from his computer screen to see who I was-so maybe email woud be an appropriate way for docs like this to communicate
I did complain about the "phone situation" and was told they had a technical problem with their phone line-liars to boot
