My Diabetic team recomended I be put on a pump and an application was made to Wandsworth CCG. I never heard back from them for 6 months and then decided to contact my MP as they refused to discuss my application with me. My MP wrote to them and today I got a letter declining my application.
It seems that they have completely disregarded the reasons as to why I should be on a pump. Their reasons for declining me seem like they have completely mis understood why I need to be on a pump. Even their terminology used in their letter shows that they are not medical professionals.

Anyone got any advice as to what I should do next or is their a body I can contact who manage these PCT's?

Many thanks

Best thing I can advise is for you to contact Input www.inputdiabetes.org.uk they're a great organisation and assist people with being able to have access to insulin pump therapy etc. (should they want it).

Hi

I too recommend that you contact INPUT and let them help you regarding the funding issue.

Am curious though..... is your control with the new background insulin Degludec controlling your bg levels any better?

Yes. The Degludec has seemed to bring me down a bit. It has definately helped with my fasting level as that has dropped from an average 16mmols to an average of 5 - 10mmols.
Its only been 2 weeks now. My next HBa1C should be interesting.
