Hia - as advised by my DSN if I'm away for a day shopping, which happens a bit too regularly for my husbands' liking!, I take my pens as a back in case I have problems with my pump. Yesterday it was a normal cold day and when I got back in at night I just put the pens back in the fridge. I was just thinking if I took my pens out of the fridge on average 5-7 times a month for a day at a time but then put them back at the end of the day will this affect the insulin significantly if I do need to use them as i think the advise 30 days outside of the refrigerator normally. Maybe I'm over analysing !!

This is a bit difficult to speculate on but I doubt if the pens will suffer that much for coming out the fridge and then going back in later in the day, but of course, summer is not here yet so you might benefit from getting one of those Frio bags or putting the pen in a tiny thermos flask which is what someone else does.

I just refill an empty glass pen cartridge with about 30u of insulin from a vial using a syringe and just carry that around with me and use within 30 days one way or another. Haven't had any problems as yet and it saves my GP from prescribing insulin cartridges that I may or may not use.
