Peri-menopause and blood glucose

Anyone here figured out the way around fluctuating hormones & managing blood glucose? Certain days & times it seems zero carbs are tolerated when other days you can eat a lot more with minimal impact.

I’m struggling with my post-breakfast insulin resistance. It doesn’t matter if I eat just a boiled egg or two by themselves or eat eggs & LC toast + veggies — my BG readings just go up and stay up till about noon.
Waiting to get back hormone panel result to see if this is due to cortisol levels and other hormones.
Wondering if anyone else is dealing with this?

I've noticed I'm becoming more insulin resistant prior to my period. I know this to be normal, I think they associate it with increased progesterone, but whereas it would happen just 2-3 days prior it can now be up to two weeks that my BG acts all high and crazy.

I am the same. Things start going crazy two weeks before & carb tolerance is very low.
Cortisol is definitely playing a part to complicate things for me in the morning - so it’s not as simple as my liver dumping or too many/too little carbs or anything else happening. It’s really the other hormones affecting BG for me. Makes it all so complicated and even harder to figure out how to manage things the first half of the day.

I’ve also just found out I have an autoimmune condition - and this in itself is probably contributing to worsening insulin resistance too.

I've noticed my hba1c is on the rise but I haven't changed my eating habits and can only put this down to peri menopause/menopause. I was put on metformin but it made me severely constipated for 3 weeks and I had to come off it. No one ever talks about metformin making people constipated, it's always about the uncontrollable, urgent need to go!

I detest metformin. I was put on it too & took it for three months. Now off it almost 3 weeks and still feeling the side-effects. It gave me an upset stomach for a week or two and then super bad stomach discomfort. My gut felt inflamed and bloated the entire time I took it.

Hi, sorry, I just clicked on your profile (sorry, not trying to stalk you). Could you say what autoimmune disease you have? That could be relating to worsening insulin resistance. If not, that’s okay. I’m not sure whether my Fatty Liver Disease, is because of just Diabetes alone, or I’ve got some Autoimmune disease. I have Endometriosis which is apparently Autoimmune, my cousin has Graves Disease. I already have something called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, which is often related to Autoimmune Diseases. I’ve been thinking I’ve got Autoimmune Hepatitis. I don’t know what I have yet until they do some Hepatitis related blood tests... (Felt like I had Epstein Barr in January). I had Neuroborreliosis Lyme Disease in 2021 and I’ve had Spleen reactions to the “Vaccines”, and I’ve been reading how they can cause hepatitis issues, in some people (Autoimmune Hepatitis is usually treated with Prednisone, a Steroid, which people with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, another thing I might have, already take)… I don’t know what’s going on really… I could have Lymphoma (I hope not).
So that’s why I’m just trialling Berberine, like I said on my other reply.

With those other conditions do be careful which advice on these forums you take. Most assume no underlying conditions or medications so double check everything as it relates to you.
Something in my over tired brain has flagged up the Ehlers but I can't remember what. Do put it in the search up on the top right. I'm 85% sure it's been mentioned somewhere, but I could be wrong. It's late and I must sleep

Thanks, I have so many colliding issues! I’m being very wary, I don’t for one just want to have my Dr stick me on Metformin and that be it. My Dr’s thing is Diabetes. And I am fat. I don’t want her to just think that’s it’s just because I’m fat etc. Which can happen to a lot of fat people, that medical professionals just dismiss any other reasons!
I‘ve been reading a few medical things, legit things, not conspiracy theory stuff. I’m not an anti-vaxxer. I read that that the Covid Vaccines caused (some people) to have a Autoimmune Hepatitis like syndrome, and also Lyme Disease is a viral infection and can be related to Herpes and Hepatitis too, especially the Neuroborreliosis type, which attacks the cerebellum etc, you can get something called lymphocytic meningoradiculitis, I think that’s what happened to me. So it could be Autoimmune Hepatitis that caused me to have Non Alcholic Fatty Liver Disease, or it could be Diabetes, or both. I’m having a blood test in a week for Hep B and Hep C and other related things. Long list. I don’t feel ill near where my liver is anyway. It was Spleen and Lymph node pain after the Lyme ( Nov 2021) and Booster jab (Spring 2022) that caused me issues. I also got Covid last July. My immune system is rubbish anyway, I think my body had too much to “fight”, if you know what I mean. I helped my lymph nodes and Spleen by taking Echinacea. It really helped! But I do have Diabetes too. Always still hoping to reverse it.
This Berberine though sounds very good from what I’ve read. Might help me like Echinacea did!

I have this and it’s driving me crazy. It’s really affecting my mental health. Did you find any resolution? Please share if you did
