Perkins Eye Examination???

Had just been to get my eyes tested today, had my retinophy screening 2 weeks ago....Had various tests done at opticians today and I've to go back for more....Said I had average eyesight but my pressure was giving them concern...I've to have a Perkins Eye Test done....guess I'm just curious as to what it is and why its so important that i get the pressure down....Looking at the results with her today, they were sitting at 26.7 , she said that it was way too high and shes worried for me....

I'm absolutely scared witless...Can anyone shed any light on these results for me at all??

Just an update....was at opticians on monday, had various tests done. Had to go for another 2 tests yesterday, then whilst there, had another 2 more done than was supposed to have. Seems my eye sight is average with no underlying problems, except for very high pressure behind my retina...So optician called the doctors surgery with her concerns and wait for it.....Doctor said its not urgent enough to be dealt with straight away!!! Now , if my optician thought it was high enough to consult a doctor, then why am I sittin here wondering what the hells going on and my doctor isnt doing anything about it??

I'm not sure how eye pressure is measured, but optician told me that it was 27.6, then 23.7 on Monday and Shot up to 31.2 yesterday...So it would seem its getting worse rather than better...She said its like high blood pressure but high blood pressure in the eyes...Ive had really bad headaches since being diagnosed with Diabeted, and the doc just keeps telling me to take paracetamols...

I'm just at a loss as to what to do now if the doctor isnt listening to my optician...Any suggestions would be appreciated

Ring the gp surgery back and tell them you need to be seen asap, failing that if you have a NHS drop in centre you could go along to that.

thanks Noble, I've to go get bloods done at my surgery next week for my daibetes clinic appointment the following week, so might make an appointment to see doc at same time and see if i can get something sorted before i lose my patience altogether
