I have been reading these forums for a while now, but this is my first post, so hello to one and all.
I was diagonsed with diabetes last June after being admitted to hospital with a heart attack, my bg level at that time was 33.
To cut a long story short, since then I have been on the usual post heart attack drugs, and for diabetes, gliclazide for a few months, then on metformin, changed to metformin sr (4x500)after a couple of months and now also put on linagliptin.
As I use a wheelchair, and inactive, I am used to looking at what I eat, so have had no problem sticking to a low gi /carb/cal diet.
My tested bg levels since diagnosed have never dropped into single figures (mmol/L)
and last two HbA1c levels have been 9.2 and 9.4.
Anyway, enough of my rambling, time to ask what I posted for.
Has anyone been on linagliptin for any time? and does it do what it says on the tin?
I am asking, because I have been told if this doesn't lower my levels, I most likely have to go on insulin.
