Hi.

I use Humulin M3 twice daily, as prescribed. When collecting my prescription from my pharmacist last week I didn't notice until I got home that they gave me a different Humulin type; "Humulin" in a green and white packet rather than "Humulin M3" in a the brown and white packet. Fortunately I had enough M3 left to get me through Christmas and New Year so I waited until today to take the pack back and query it.

Sure enough it was a mistake and the pharmacist was extremely apologetic, but I'm wondering how bad it could have been if I had gone ahead and used the wrong Humulin?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

Welcome to the forum.

My guess is, “anybody’s guess.” It appears to be a basal? I don’t use Eli Lilly insulins.

So from the perspective of injecting a basal as instructed one would on a mixed dose. It could well have thrown your “average day?”

It’s always prudent to have spare.

Thanks for posting. I see a cautionary tale here. It your meds aren’t the “usual.” Never mess with it. (Seek professional consultation.)

Best wishes.
