I searched for the http://www.nationalobesityforum.org.uk/ & the first name I saw was Steve Pound, MP for Ealing North. By a providential coincidence, he was scheduled to come to a diabetes meeting in Greenford Baptist Church, which I was attending. I was specially invited back after the last meeting because of my positive experience. An observer from Diabetes UK was also there - she recognised me from a year ago at the Hounslow Diabetes group - where I promoted Trudi Deakin's "Eat fat - a guide to low carb living." She opened the meeting with a short film on the nature of diabetes. It finished up with the dread sentence "diabetes is progressive." Steve introduced himself & answered questions. I had carefully prepared for the meeting & gave him a copy of the talk I had given 2 years before, & a few pages from the Public Health Collaboration report. This contact could be very useful. I gave her my critique of contact with DUK, after recommending people contact her careling for advice. They don't get ongoing help from their doctors. I don't think the message of last Monday had actually got through to those attending.
