Hi

I have a different sugar problem. If my blood sugar goes above an unknown value (could be a complicated function of who knows what) I get brain fog and fatigue (not nice). It took me about 50 years to figure this out. If you are interested I now have a theory of what is happening. What do you suggest for a diet. I now eat an Atkins style diet with a lot of protein (expensive but I am lucky and can aford it). I am a case study that proves that a diet of mostly fat and protein is not necessarily unhealthy. I try to see that I eat enough low carbohydrate vegtables for health.

Have you looked around the low carb forum? A lot of people here already follow an Atkins type diet for both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, as well as Reactive Hypoglycemia. It works for a lot of people with blood glucose issues, so not really surprising that it also works for you.

It might help if you could give us some more detail.

Do you measure the BS levels that give you problems ?
Do you notice what you've been eating ?
Are you on any medication e.g. statins etc ?
Are you experiencing any other health problems, such as low thyroid ?

How would you split your fat/protein/carbs ratio ? Is it high fat, moderate protein, low carbs ?

Yes, you're right. There are cultures that have shown that a low-carb diet is not unhealthy e.e. Eskimo, Masai etc.
