 The OH has sabotaged his 2-hours-after-dinner reading by taking pills with a sip of water.
Two heart meds plus simvastatin. It made his reading higher than it was at 1 hr past. Does anybody know if meds will always do this ?
Ok he had an omelette containing bacon/tomatoes/mushrooms, and some (not many) peache slices-no syrup or juice- with creme fraiche and 1 cup sugarless tea.
Waited 1 hour and took BS which was 6.2.
Waited a further hour and took reading which was 6.8.
Then remembered he had the pills in between the two readings. :?:
Not much of a difference no, but it went UP and previously it always went down between the 1 hour and the 2hour tests... We just thought it was odd.
Also one more thing, can I ask your opinions here. He seems to have a really low reading after breakfast which is always porridge and half fat cream. Since porridge is sort of carby, does this mean that he might be ok on a not so strict low carb regime ?
I should have said that the Peach Slices would have probably raised the levels a little depending on how many were eaten.
As regards the Porridge.....too high carbs for me. If he can tolerate it and the Bg levels are good then maybe he could ? However, remember there may be a spike at the 1 hr stage (test then) and then at 2 hrs (test again) you might think it is OK ? Try a test at 3 hrs and see what the Bg levels are then ? Oats are notorious for this.
