Pioglitazone has serious side effects - your thought please

I have just been told that I will have to use Pioglitazone 30 mg tablets for my type 2 but having read all the bad side effects such as heart failure and bladder cancer it has raised serious concernes with me and was wondering if anybody has the same concernes
 
I took it for about 1 year with no obvious problems. But I was keen to come off it, so I reduced my carbs, which reduced my Hba1c and therefore that was the med that went first.
