Speeking to my consultant on the phone a few days ago, and she seems to thing it maybe worth stopping the insulin and trying pioglitazone

What's the general thoughts of pioglitazone as the only diabetic treatment?

I did not know it was a stand-alone treatment .. I thought it was supposed to be additional to maybe metformin. or some other initial anti-diabetic med.

I can't tolerate metformin or gliclazide I refused to try gliptins so was put on insulin

They can't determine yet if I'm type 1 or 2 but has suggested I could try pioglitazone and drop the insulin

But I'm not sure whether to refuse or not
