Drummer Lee Rigby was murdered because, and, it appears, only because he was a soldier.
But he was off duty!
I have little doubt that the Ministry of Defence civil servants, in loyal compliance with Treasury Rules, will express sincere regret at his death, but provide minimal financial support to his widow and child.
I have e-mailed both my MP and Number 10, expressing the hope that the Treasury immediately agreed to the Ministry of Defence's request for a waiver, so that Drummer Lee Rigby's death is treated as having been "attributable" to his military service, and realistic benefits are paid.
While I have little hope for an honourable response, it would help, if others also e-mail or otherwise communicate the like view, so that decency can prevail.
