Got all my annual results today and I was a little surprised, Hb1 down from 43 to 40. I thought that I had let my control slip a bit recently, but it seems not. I'm now quite motivated to get below 40 next year. I do still refer to the forum a lot, it is a brilliant resource and motivational tool. I think the key changes to this year have been getting a bit fitter, and sticking to no more than 150g of carbs a day.

Key at it everyone!

Thanks @Prem51. Your figures are really good. Are you on medication? Your figures, and my own, lead me to think that there are a few types of type 2, and actually the prople who are overweight on diagnosis are in a better place than those who are thin. If you are a fat type 2, as I was, the loss of a lot of weight can mean that the condition, if not eradicated, is pushed into the background, as your pancreas can cope with the lesser load.

@Caterham. No I wasn't prescribed meds. When I was first diagnosed my GP said I should try to lower my bs levels by diet and exercise, and that we could look at that again after my 3 month retest. I was only to glad to avoid meds as I have a needle phobia and thought I would have to inject insulin at some point.
The initial shock did motivate me to lose weight fairly drastically for the first six months, though I am becoming complacent now and my weight seems to be creeping up a bit again - currently at 10st.
I agree with you that it is probably easier for those of us who are overweight to control the condition by losing fat around our middles, which effects our pancreas and liver adversely.
