Hi all,
Last year I slipped into depression, as it got worse, the more I talked about it to people but the more people thought I was 'exaggerating' the condition. So I wrote a poem and wanted to read it at my university's talent show, but I bottled it as expected. Anyway, it helped me show people what I was going through... so maybe it will help somebody else?
Or I'd love some suggestions on what else you think should be included?
Tomorrow is another day
Tomorrow is another day,
There’s problem with another day,
Tomorrow is another day.
Another day of waking up and ‘exaggerating’
Another day of maths at the dinner table
Another day of ‘should you be having that?’
Tomorrow is another day
Another day of lancets and test strips
Another day of multiple, scheduled injections
Another day of ‘exaggeration’
Tomorrow is another day,
Another day of uncontrollable high’s, ketones and everything
Mixed with the low’s, sweats and shakes.
Another day of judgement from someone I don’t know.
Tomorrow is another day,
A day of trying to be my own organ,
A day for mothers to worry about their child in school
A day for fathers to pray their child wasn’t cursed with this disease
Tomorrow is another day,
A day where the news headlines stamps blame on my own forehead
A day to choose to hide else be ashamed.
Tomorrow is another day,
A day to check my eyes to see if it’s happened
A day to check my feet to feel if I can,
A day of exaggeration
Tomorrow is another day,
But it’s every day
