I have just come back after my three monthly diabetes check with my doctor since seeing our diabetic nurse. To sum it all up he couldn't believe my readings and until I told him what I had done to tackle the problem he thought the readings obtained were incorrect. My avarage reading over the last three months have reduced from 9.7 to 6.3 which he says he has never seen done in just three months and called it remarkable. Everything else including my cholestral has improved. My Cholestrol is now at 3.2. I am just so chuffed and proud and want to thank you all for the advice, book suggestions that I am still getting through and the great diet food ideas. Let me just tell everyone that may have been feeling as depressed as I was about my condition that if I can do it you can too. Just perservere and hold on to your discipline it's so worth it. I think I'm now on a permanent high I'm so happy!.

Many congratulations to you!
Understanding what is right for you is the biggest step and then the courage to follow it up is the next.
My meter is just about my best friend these days and the printed results I get tell me how good a friend she is.
Share your success. Love your story.

Hello again alexander-v-o,

Really pleased to hear you are getting on so well. All the hard work you have put in has really paid off, congratulations! 8)

I am now a happy diabetic if there is such a thing. It's all due to the encouragement and support I found here from "strangers" that have become my diabetic online family. Well it's just getting better my weight is slowly coming down I have now dropped to 78 kilos so a full 10kg drop from someone who wasn't really terribly overweight in the first instance. My readings are continuing to drop as well I am regularly now getting readings of low 5's and rarely going to seven. Man I am so happy from someone who was visualising going onto insulin I am now so comfortable with my new diet and lifestyle. People warned me I would run out of energy but even riding my bike a ten mile ride three times a week is a breeze. Gosh who needs drugs when life is this good! I would recommend anyone to at least give this diet a try if you are depressed because you can't get your readings down. Gosh I'm beginning to sound like an evangelist! Have a lovely Easter Weekend everyone.

Hi Everyone I'm still right spot on track and loving the new me watching what I eat but experimenting all the time with different (low carb) foods. I am now settled and am cycling a fair distance every week again and not running out of energy. I started trying oats but they immediately raised my sugar levels. On excercise days I allow myself a plate of oats for breakfast with no spike in my sugar levels. My weight has further reduced and I am now what I was when I was in the military and playing sport at 18! (76 kg.) I have just had my annual medical and in spite of eating a lot of protien and even fat my cholesterol is under 3! I urge anyone that is having doubts on this low carbing to try it before making judgement there is a lot of bad information out there by the so called experts that certainly has proved completely wrong in my case.Well thats it for now just to let everyone who encouraged me know what a difference this has made to my life Cheers I'll report back in a few months again.
