Hi Everyone. I am new on the forum and up to now only had posts on the greetings forum. I told my tale of woe and I immediately had help particularly from Cugila and also other friendly forum members.
Well I went for my check up with the diabetes nurse who was quite shocked at the person that walked into her clinic. I was knowledgeable and had taken ownership of my high meter readings and told her that if she didn't want me to test daily I would buy my own strips! Well well well what a different person she was now.
She immediately prescribed strips for me to test myself twice daily. She also doubled my Metformin dose to two 500 mg tablets a.m. and p.m. She also expressed delight at how much weight I had managed to shed even though I was not grossly overweight. Then she blew my mind away by agreeing to everything I am doing diet wise but did suggest that I are a plate of oats in the morning because it is a slow carbo release food.
My readings are now generally under 9 in the mornings and under 7 before I go to bed. This slightly puzzles me as I don't eat between these readings so would have expoected my morning reading to be the lower.
I have not yet started trying oats in the morning because I really don't want my reading to go up which I strongly suspect it will. I think I will wait until the summer when my excercise dramatically increases as I cycle a lot. Mentally I have been given such a boost because I really thought I wasn't able to get down to these levels again after being in the high twenties! Thanks everyone for all the help it is so nice to know there are others struggling with exactly the same problems and meeting with them on this forum has been magic!
