I've noticed a few posts on here recently wher the OP has said that their HCP suggested reducing carbs. Sadly there are more of the opposite, with starchy carbs being advised. But the fact that there are some HCP's giving that advice at all, shows change is on the way .

Did you get any feedback regarding the petition to Diabetes UK ?

When I had my chol side effects 10 years ago, & stopped taking them, my Dr immediately confirmed the side effect & advised me not to take them. The pharmacist said they did not warn people of the likely side effects because people would look out for them. Not everyone can read the warning leaflet & understand it. My doctor wasn't as honest as yours and tried a different excuse every year for several years. What's really annoying is that one of the manufacturers, Merck, was aware of the problem when they made US Patent application 4,933,165 in June 1990.

You probably know that the muscle pain is caused by the lack of CoQ10 caused by the statin. The patent is for a tablet to include CoQ10 as a means of preventing impending myopathy.
This side effect had been known for 7 years before it was prescribed to me and I tolerated the pain for 15 years. If I though legal action was a sensible step, I'd be taking it.
Part of the problem was exacerbated by that ***** Professor Sir Rory Collins telling the media how wonderful the stuff was and that side effects were rare. Someone who receives funding and other moneys from Pfizer. He even tried to get the BMJ to shut up and they did apologise for two articles, only to be shown that they had done the right thing in publishing the articles and that Sir Rory was in the wrong.

Ian - I must admit I've been formulating a presentation (ideally face to face, but otherwise a PowerPoint slide pack) for my GP practise on my progress, much of which I must attribute to changes in diet to reduce my carb consumption. I think both @Southport GP and @Deakint have made extraordinary strides for we, the great washed, in our attempts to get the important message across to health care professionals who simply don't have time to keep up with the detail of everything. After all, diabetes is only one of several health epidemics (stress, hypertension, lipids, back pain to name but a few) the UK is currently "enjoying". I do feel for these people, because we, as consumers have an expectation they will have a complete understanding of the epidemic that ails us, whichever it is. They don't have a chance!

Considering your dilemma for your potential presenter, I turned to YouTube. I am repeatedly astonished by just what's on there.
I have looked for uploaded content from both Drs Trudi and David. Dr Trudi has quite a bit of content on there, although, I must confess to have only run the search when considering my reply to your post, so haven't watched any yet. There is recent enough content to be reassured there may be some relevant subject matter for us both to consider. Conversely, where I can find several uploaded videos from several contributors sharing Dr David's name, I can find nothing, so far, marrying with the subject matter I'm looking for, but I'll look again in the morning when I'm fresher.

As YouTube is a public medium, I'm sure playing any video you find suitable for your group, would be acceptable to the contributor, and could A decent compromise, not requiring massive travel?

If playing these videos to a larger audience than a laptop screen would comfortably accommodate would be a challenge, there are a number of options worth exploring, and I would be happy to make aome suggestions if that was the case.

These are interesting times, and it's so encouraging that you have a local group that's keen to explore ideas challenging the NHS current norms. Good luck with it.

Try offering to pay her train fare down and return journey ?
Ask her to speak herself at meeting .
She may take you up on your offer ?

Then you can meet her properly in reality .
