Hi, Has anyone experienced stalling weight loss on LCHF diet when using polyols? Ignoring the obvious that they just exasperate the sweet tooth craving I have recently found an addiction to Oppo ice cream and the like. Taking into consideration the total calories consumed I have found that weight loss has stalled and in fact i have put a few pounds back on. Has anyone experienced this?

I’m fine on erythritol and xylitol but have bgl spikes on maltitol. I guess that’s would translate to a weight loss stall if eaten regularly. Some people are ok with maltitol though. Test and see I guess is the answer (again).

This is a lecture on sweetners via Low Carb Down Under which may give you some clues. Shame that tasty low carb ice cream may be too good to be true though...

It doesn’t spike but weight loss stalled since I have been eating it. I know the answer is “stop eating it” but a) I like it b) I like to understand the reasons as might translate to other stuff in the future.

Maybe it affects insulin even if it doesn’t blood sugar. Just guess. Or some other hormone involved in fat storage/release. Have you tried different ones. They may not all act the same on you
