hi
I'm 10 wks pregnant with my 4 baby. I'm really struggling to get my levels right. thay are running high despite being in insulin x4 a day and metformin. fasting morning levels still at 7.8. however today I found out the meaning of my waistband!!! "I'm not drunk I'm diabetic" when they plummeted to 4.3. I just wondered if anyone had any tips or advice?? anything would be fantastic. Thank you a rather desperate Nicci :-) x

Look again at what you are eating.
you need a good quality diet while pregnant to get all your baby needs and also to keep your carbs under control, because high BG won't be goodd for him/her.
Take care of both of you

In my pregnancy I was advised to take my insulin for my breakfast and then eat half the breakfast after 15 mins and the other half after an hour.

Also you may well find you need to reduce your carbs in the morning. By my third trimester I was eating 12 g carbs for brekkie and injecting 12 u insulin.

Just keep upping your insulin until you get the right readings! also inject for snacks.

I also used to preinject 4 u of novorapid on waking and then eat my brekkie an hour later.

By 10 weeks gestation you have finished the embryonic stage where all the body organs are forming and entering the foetal stage, so you're probably past the critical period where your bg's affect birth defects etc.
