Hey folks
Sometimes when I try to access this site and forum I get this pop up, this happens no matter what browser I use. Does this happen to anyone else?

Hi zaphod37,

If a window panel pops up with something you did not request,
close the panel immediately.......... click "Cancel".

First thing, make sure your AntiVirus is up to date, then run
a complete scan of your PC.

If you get the all clear, you probably have Malware installed in
your PC.

You can download a free version of "Malwarebytes" which will allow
you to scan your PC. (it's a reputable company)
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free

If you don't know what Malware is, follow this link....
http://blog.malwarebytes.org/news/2013/06/what-is-malwarebytes-anti-malware/

Post in a reply with your AntiVirus scan result.
Myself or one of the other members are sure to reply
with advice/comments for you.

Hope that's at least some help for you.

Best wishes.
willie.

That appears to be the code page for the 'Most Viewed' widget on the right hand side of these pages

Hi guys, I checked that everything was up to date, I ran my antivirus and both spybot search and destroy and malawarebytes. Everything came back clear. It doesn't happen all the time just occasionally, It has not happened for a few days now.

I always cancel unusual actions that I haven't requested or am unsure about. Robert do you think it could have been a bug or something?

Hi Zaphod, what version of Firefox was this happening in?

Firefox 22.0 also it was happening on Chrome and I remember also trying IE10 which is why I ran the scans at the time because I thought it was my laptop.

Thanks! If you start getting this issue again, please drop me a PM and I'll look in to it further. Since I can't replicate the issue on my end there's not much I can do at the moment unfortunately.

It looks like your PC doesn't have an application set to handle .aspx files.

I usually turn the 'Most Popular' side bar off (to free up screen real estate) but it comes back again after a few days, so this might be what's happening to you.

zaphod37, Hi.

I've only dropped in for a couple of minutes.

If you are able to install applications....

You could try a "Pop Up Blocker". You can download and install
a free version from cnet.com. (again a reputable company)

Super Ad Blocker has a goood Editor rating, and appears to be
very popular. Stastics show that from 2008 it has a total of.....
603,989 downloads.

Last weeks stastics....
3,087 total downloads.

web link....

But check out the stastitics of the others on offer.

All the best.

Hello folks
I got this popup again today so I left it as it was and ran malawarebytes, all was clear apart from this entry.

Files Detected: 1
C:\Users\Mark\AppData\Local\Temp\IAHzhRPI.exe.part (PUP.Downware) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

Any ideas? I am about to restart my machine as malawarebytes removed the file.

Mark

zaphod37 Hi,

AppData\Local\Temp\IAHzhRPI.exe.part (PUP.Downware)

PUP = "Potentially Unwanted Program" (Spyware)
It would have been included and installed (unknown to you) in a program you installed
in your pc at some point.

You are quite safe now that Malwarebytes has quarantined it however, it's just possible
a folder/file, though unharmful, may still be left on your hard drive.

To double check, go to "Start" and type in the "Search Panel" at the very bottom of the panel.....
AppData\Local\Temp\IAHzhRPI.exe.part. You will see the your PC searching for the item.

If the search allocates it, right click the result and choose the option "Open File Location"
in the new panel that appears. You can then decide whether or not to delete it.
I would suggest deleting it, but not before you create a new "Restore Point".

Hope you know how to create a Restore Point.

Note....
Always err on the cautious side if you ever have to post in similar details in future......

Simply post the following ....
AppData\Local\Temp\IAHzhRPI.exe.part (PUP.Downware)

Hope that puts your mind at ease.
