We hear this often and Ally 555 reminds us frequently that portion size is the key to control. 8)
I learned a long time ago that a portion of any food is what you can hold in one hand ( normal sized hand for YOU)
Ally once reminded me you can't do this with hot food  , But you can estimate. One of the problems wwith feeding young/fast growing children is not doing this correctly
What I have found though, is that getting used to eating small portions has made me not need any more.
I was discussing this with someone I met yesterday and also saying I avoid obvious carbs( other than slip-ups with popcorn  )
She asked me what I replace them with. The answer is "Nothing" I don't have toast with my scrambled eggs, so just have scrambled eggs. I don't feel hungry, although I obviously give in to "the Munchies" once in a while.
i read somewhere recently that a "sparse" diet is good for us. It works for me. I just wish my weight would shift faster. Other wise I'm pretty fit for a stroke surviving 60+er
