I attended an appointment at the hospital to see the diabetes nurse, in this case it was two of them. and although they were a wee bit concerned that I might be going too low with BS, they listened to what I was attempting to achieve. Of course they couldn't endorse such a low carb diet, but they saw that it was working for me. Their main concern was being too low and driving, especially with the new rules. I felt that overall they were just being cautionary, and I didn't get any lectures.
yesterday I saw the nurse at my GP's and she was amazed that I had managed to get my BS down and had lost a wee bit of weight.
Again she was cautionary, but she listened. She also said that there is new stuff out about the dangers of being too low, that it can bring on sudden death, I don't think she was talking about diabetic coma, so not sure what that was about, may be someone here knows.
However, I felt better after these visits, and I do know I have to be careful as taking insulin makes the LC eating a bit more tricky, but I feel as if I have had a wakeup call to all the excuses I've made over the years about how I managed my diabetes, or not managed really.
However, I guess I am a little disappointed with having only lost around 1/2 stone in the 8 weeks of doing this diet. I keep reading about all the weight loss that some folk are managing. But heho, It's the lower blood sugar that counts and I suppose at the age of 59, I'll never managed to look like cindy Crawford.
Just want to finish with a thanks for the advice received here, learned more in the last few weeks than in the last decade.
