Hi all, so started having ear pain about 6 weeks ago, after the james arthur consort. the next week started having like a lump sensation in my throat so thought I'd take myself to the doctors. she said is doesn't look like theres an infection but because I'm diabetic she prescribed me antibiotics, which didn't do anything but make things worse. the ear pain/fullness was the same but the antibiotics didn't go well with my digestive system. been to about 3 more appointments reagarding the ear pain and the drymouth/lump in throat, burning, postnasle drip and she said is sounds like acid reflux/gerd lpr. I still having the same issues and have been googling my symptoms, never the best idea that! so now I'm stressed out on a daily basis, not because of the pain but because the not knowing!the past 2 years hasn't been nice to me, my wife lost her mother back in November So I've been going through alot atm and this on top of it along with the diabetes is a little overwhelming atm
Hi @kurttious ,
welcome to the forum.
How was your hearing after the James Arthur concert? (I had to Google the artist.)
The ears subjected to a loud environment like a music venue can sometimes cause an ear wax build up?
I had similar so started by going to specsavers for a free hearing check which found no issues with wax or my hearing. I contacted my GP who prescribed Omeprazole for GERD and said if no better after a certain amount of time he would refer me to a specialist. Mine is now under control and I don't take meds every day now. I think stress and certain foods make it worse.ok i think, but the ear irritation started from there.
Hi, I’m so sorry you’ve been struggling with all of this. I had gastritis for years as a result of being coeliac and undiagnosed. I went for periods of days/weeks of nausea and vomiting, indigestion, upset tummy, constant lump in my throat and it sucked. Since I went gluten free after coeliac diagnosis it helped with the worst symptoms, and then going low carb it’s totally vanished. Am also vegan but tbh don’t think this makes a difference. May just be luck for me, but thought it’d be worth mentioning to you in case you wanted to be tested for coeliac? Often we have no symptoms for years then it just flares up as you’ve described. Like I said could be totally unrelated but sounded like my experience. Hope you feel much better soon!
It's very unlikely that your case is the same as mine, but just watch out that the pain in your ear doesn't migrate to your teeth or jaw. My ear pain and GERD symptoms turned out to be coronary artery issues. I think you're probably just dealing with GERD or a related issue so don't worry, but if it does go to your teeth, maybe see about getting a scan done.
