Sadly, it became quite clear to me, that there were some foods which I just had to avoid. I tried not to eat more than 60g of carbs at a time, and even though this doesn't seem much, I had to 'graze' more during the day, rather than have 3 mega meals.
Cereal was a no no and foods such as pasta were avoided as much as possible as my insulin worked too fast, and I ended up hypo then mega high.
My body was more prone to running high in the morning, and it was as though it just didn't 'wake up'. I'm not on a pump, but I have to inject at least 30mins before my toast , that way, my bloods would be roughly in the target range after 1 hr. if I didn't do this, I was still about 12 hours later. During the day, I didn't have this problem.
I didn't want to be too strict during my pregnancy, but I had to in the end, and I really learnt how different foods were often to blame first, rather than the amount of medication.
