Post meal spike

As newly diagnosed T2 I'm still testing, testing, testing.

I've noticed that 1 hour after a meal BG has been 10 - 12. After 2 hours, usually under 8. Except this morning, when I had a slice of granary bread with my bacon and mushrooms. 1 hr 7.7. 2 hr 8.3. 3 hr (just to try & see what was happening) 5.9.

For the last couple of days I have been eating bread, to see what effect it has on me. Looks like I need to cut it out :(

Trying to cut back on carbs - never thought I'd say that

Lunch was a piece of cheese (too busy to do anything else).

Just had 2 beefburgers (made by butcher), eggs, onion, butternut squash, carrots, cauli & brocolli.

Got into bad habit of eating at bedtime - really need to work on that one. Fasting BG is just over 7 :(

Had HbAC1 done, get results next week.

Keeping food diary, so can monitor progress - ammunition for when I see 'experts' at GPs

hi,
basically thats what needs to be done ..test,test,test and then you will find what works for you and what doesnt :)

Good luck with your experts, if they are anything like mine you are going to need it  . I cut out bread completely until my partner bought some spelt and rye bread from Morrissons. I have found that a tiny slice every so often doesn't seem to make me spike, or go much higher than usual, and it tastes handsome :D :D
