Potato Carb values

I think it’s roughly the same size or maybe smaller

I love potatoes in all their forms (not those sweet ones that i would argue are not potatoes as the texture of them is awful)
and lose weight when i holiday in the canaries.
They can't cook a spud in the canaries so don't eat them...simple

In the UK my wife is an expert and often have 8 or 9 roasties on a sunday.

BTW type 1 of 50 years hba1c 40 and fit as a butchers dog and my post is my light hearted view on the spud.

I love the word "spud" too and the thought of a spud with a jacket on makes me giggle a bit.

My neighbour has a reicipe book dedicated to spuds.

When i was a lad my mum used to cover a raw spud with foil then place pineapple cheese and pickles on a cocktail stick and cover the spud with them so they looked like a hedgehog.

Fantastic

New potatoes I weigh 100g and count 15gm of carb. I don’t worry about different types. As a type 1 if you find it doesn’t work allow extra insulin next time and just do a correction this time.

LOL i often pre bolus then eat way too many potatoes then have to take some more insulin after the event.
My eyes are definately bigger than my belly!

I still use the old “ portion” system when counting carbs it’s quite antiquated system from years ago but it works for me 1 portion = 10 g of carbs 1 egg size spud = 1 portion works as I said it works for me , they use to give you a portion list years ago no scales etc life was much simpler then, it’s only a guesstimate anyway as I find I can eat same carbs one day and have to take different amounts of insulin for same carbs on another day oh the joys , diabetes likes to keep us on our toes( of which I only have 5 lol)

Which potatoes though, there’s more than one type of raw potatoes, weighing different amounts
An average potato. The difference between breeds will be so marginal as to make little or no difference once all carbs in a meal are taken into account. And it's 17g per 100g - weigh the potato and do the maths.
