Pre diabetes concern

Hi,

I was diagnosed a year ago with pre diabetes and a HBAC1 level of 43. I have lost quite a bit of weight since then and am due another blood test. I’m also suffering from health anxiety (hypochondria). My questions are:
1. Is it possible or likely to go from 43 to being diabetic (48 plus) in the space of 12 months even after losing weight? I have some days where I urinate more than normal but the majority of days is just normal apart from that no other symptoms. The weight loss is intentional and I don’t feel thirsty a lot. In fact I probably don’t drink enough.
2. I spend a lot of time on the net (which I shouldn’t but it’s a vicious cycle). I found something called Hyper Osmolar Hyper Glycaenic state which apparently can occur in undiagnosed type 2 people. I am worried as to what if my level has increase in a year and I get this condition? Does any one know about this? Is it likely to occur in someone who was only a year ago just in the ore diabetes range?
I know this is long so apologies, I want to tell myself to get a grip but suffering from mental health and depression it’s not as easy as that.
Appreciate any help
Thanks

Hello and welcome here, @Adil78 .

Well done on losing weight
Your HbA1c of 43, last year, would only just put you in pre-diabetic range. So although it is possible that you could have increased that level to 48 or above to reach diabetic range, if you have been reducing carbohydrates in your diet, and intentionally lost weight, you may be still below that figure. Only way to know for sure is to have the blood test.
As for your concerns regarding hyperosmolar hyperglacaemic state, my understanding is that the condition occurs only when blood glucose levels are extremely high. Are you testing your own levels with a meter, or relying on annual test with GP? With HbA1c of 43 it is unlikely you have this condition, especially as you say you have no symptoms. I would add that nobody here can offer you a diagnosis. Testing blood glucose yourself, though I appreciate is difficult with health anxiety, could put your mind at rest. The main thing you can do at the moment is have your review and another HbA1c test.
