Type 2 Pre Diabetic with high cholesterol

I’m hoping someone can advise I am pre diabetic with high cholesterol of 5.9 I’ve already lost half a stone since being told HBa1c was 44 I only weigh 7 stone 12ams I can’t afford to lose any more but am finding it difficult to to know what to eat being diagnosed with both I need to gain some weight back to anyone got suggestions
 
What you eat won't affect your cholesterol, as if you don't eat enough your liver will produce extra, which is one of its jobs. If you would let us know what sort of foods you are eating, we may be able to suggest small adjustments you can make. Your readings aren't all that high at all, and you could well find everything improves in its own time while your weight stays where you want it.
 
Are you on statins? You are a similar profile to me…. Statins reduced my cholesterol but I went from Hba1c 37 to 44. Apparently, statins can trigger new onset diabetes ‘nod’. Take care.
 
What's your bmi? My bmi is 19.4, I eat plenty of nuts, extra virgin olive oil, Greek yoghurt both full fat and 0% fat, avocados, oily fish. All calorific without raising my blood sugar. The fage yoghurt is the lowest carb yoghurt that I've found. Macadamia nuts are delicious, low carb and particularly high in calories.
 
Being prediabetic means, most likely, you are insulin resistant. Insulin resistance means your body doesn’t use insulin effectively. The hormone insulin is the key that opens up your cells to glucose in your blood stream, for use as energy. Basically you have to produce a lot of insulin to overcome the insulin resistance. Pre diabetes is one of the first signs you are insulin resistant. Insulin resistance is on a scale. You can be mildly insulin résistant to severely so. You can be skinny thin and still be insulin resistant. What has this to do with your lipids? Elevated insulin levels can interfere with the processing and removal of lipids such as triglycerides from our body, hence your lipids can be higher than normal. That is why many people with full blown poorly managed T2 have high lipids. The key here is to reduce foods that trigger your pancreas to release large amounts of insulin, such as carbs. Large amounts of circulating insulin increases your insulin resistance, insulin resistance prevents the proper processing of lipids. It’s a vicious circle. And we haven’t even spoke about the effects of insulin resistance on blood sugar.

I’m one of those skinny types too. I as diagnosed 7 years ago and the challenge is to keep blood glucose down as the risks of poor control are much higher than having higher cholesterol. As a 70 year old yes I do have higher cholesterol than 7 years ok but boy do I feel so much better
