Prediabetic... late diagnostic

I am French so my English is far from perfect...
2 days ago I got my second fasting blood glucose lab test at 6.0, a month ago it was 6.2. Yesyerday my GP dared finally to say "prediabetic" (she is prone to negate my
"past undignosed/silent prediabetic" status).
Most important is that those figures are after a weight loss of 12 kg due to a mix of voluntary and unvoluntary appetite loss (to be explained in another thread).
3 years ago my fasting BG was 5.9 and 5.6 (one month after) and still after a major weight loss (-10 kilos) over a couple of months.
My point is that over the last 10 years I was overweight (97kg for 1.86m) for probably 8 years with a metabolic syndrome (high triglycirides) and probably almost constant prediabetic BG levels... that's where the problem is rather than the present diagnosis... (I will develop this "long story" in another thread under another forum section).

It was scary but also a relief for me when I got my diagnosis - scary because of all the possible complications; a relief because with the information available here, I can tackle what has been making me increasingly unwell.
