Hi, am 8 weeks pregnant and have type 2 diabetes for which I take metformin 500mg a day. I have two other children and it was with my second child that I was informed at 32 weeks that I had gestational diabetes. My daughter was born by C-section two weeks early at the weight of 11lb. I gave both my children Step B infection and also had this in my C-section scar. With my first child he needed CPR when born by emergency C-section due to the infection and the scar took eight weeks to heal. My daughter wasn't so poorly but still had the infection and jaundice for three weeks.
The current pregnancy wasn't planned due to the fact that the consultant said after my daughter was born not to have any more children and that the pregnancy had aged my insides by 5 years. Due to a liver condition all my medication was changed and this is how the pregnancy happened.
Now I do not know what to do. Saw the same consultant who delivered my daughter last week and the first thing he said to my husband was I thought I said no more children. He was very nice and gave the positives and negatives and how medication through pregnancy has moved forward. However, he said that the pregnancy would be a challenge for him and I am worried about this.
If I didn't already have children I would not hesitate to continue, however, I have two children who could suffer if things don't go well in this pregnancy. I don't want to shorten by life with them because of this and I don't want the pregnancy to be a challenge. However, I don't know if I could go through with a termination as I have been told it will be a medical termination as I have issues with my liver.
Although I don't believe in having terminatings for birth control I do believe if there are medical issues it is the women's choice but I still don't know what to do.
Please I am looking for advice not criticism over a possible termination.
