Pregnant and diagnosed with type 2

Hi, I had gtt at 18 weeks due to high amounts of glucose in my urine and gestational diabetes in previous pregnancy. Results came back that yes I had it again but my high results indicated type 2. Went to 1st appointment and they had a look at my medical record only to discover I had had it since being pregnant the last time. I have had 3 blood tests done for diabetes since having my son a year and a half ago and have been told each time by my doctors that results were normal. I have now been told at the hospital that they weren't normal, 6.5 6.5 and 6.8. Should this have been picked up on by my doctors? Are they at fault and hav not diagnosed me when they should have? I'm confused and don't know whether to put a complaint in to my doctors or not! Thanks for reading x
