Not sure if this is the right place to post this, feel free to move/copy it somewhere else!

The Health & Social Care Information Centre (hscic) have today published the latest report on "Prescribing for Diabetes" in England - some of you may be interested to see how the trends in prescribing have changed and also how much the NHS is spending on it all (some scarily big numbers!) I'll try to add a link to the report but if I fail, I'm sure googling "Prescribing for Diabetes" will find it.

Or go to www.hscic.gov.uk and search for it. There are a number of other diabetes related reports on the site too.

I think for me what is interesting is that the amount of Human Analogue insulin prescribed in 2014/2015 is more than the total insulin prescribed in 2005/2006. This means that there are now more insulin dependent diabetics, in fact the number of units prescribed has increased by some 43%, so I guess there are more T2s on Insulin now.

What's also interesting is the comparatively smaller increase in blood testing reagent supplies.
