Hi
Has anyone any idea what may be going on? It's early days for me where I have finally been put on Humulin 1 following no response from Lantus. After much faffing I decided to stop Lantus a couple of months ago and found my blood glucose didn't change.
I have only taken 6 doses of Humulin 1 and so far I think I am showing some response, however a symptom I had with Lantus has returned, tenderness and discomfort in my left side, along with a feeling that it is swelling. When I stopped Lantus this problem all but resolved itself, but it is definitely getting worse again.

Are there any side effects with Humulin 1 that this could be? I want to carry on if possible with it but obviously not if it is harming me.

I have a complex medical problem, part of which is now a query over mitochondrial diabetes, subject to genetic tests etc.

I would think that end-stage mitochondrial diabetes (1% of all cases of diabetes) would have to be treated like any other T1 type of diabetes, as most of these cases rapidly progress typically within 2 years from diagnosis to the stage where oral medication is no longer sufficient for proper bg control?

In any case, you should talk with your physician about medication and any change to this.

If you ask about casual advise from fellow forum posters, then you would need to share more background info, as right now its very limited would you have given on history and factual situation.
