Problems with Glucophage

I have finally accepted that my body isn't working as it should be regardless of any other problems that I may have thought were making me diabetic. My GP has put me on Glucophage after the original metformin gave me visual disturbances, Gliclazide made me gain weight so I stopped taking it - thought if it's going to make me bigger whats the point of taking them. I have been taking Glucophage for the last three weeks and I have noticed that my moods have changed, I want to blow my top at the slightest thing, and I ended up crying while sat on the toilet. PMT may have also had a hand in but after the last two days being and eating "normal" i feel as though I have turned back to the real me. Even my husband wanted me to go back to the GP - has anybody else had these mood swings. I'm not depressed and haven't been since being diagnosed - the only problem I have with being diabetic, is that I have to limit the amount of fruit I eat (which I love) .

diabeticdawn - just to add to your problems - Glucophage IS Metformin by another name - at least that's what the doctors, specialists and members say here. With best wishes, Rob
