I've just joined this forum to see if anyone can help. I have had type 1 diabetes since I was 3 (20yrs) on Insulin (2 a day). When I go to the gym I lower my insulin and eat more but still go hypo and panick - eating a lot more than if I didn't go to the gym. In turn, I have put on 6lbs in the last 6 weeks!! has anyone got any tips for weight loss, exercise and not going hypo.
Any reason why your on twice daily injections and not basal/bolus (MDI)?
I really can't give an answer as it's that long since I was on twice daily doses, but the usual course is to reduce insulin to the point that exercise doesn't cause hypo's.

Are you matching your injections to the carbs that you eat? Exercise can be quite tricky to manage unless you already have good blood glucose control. Have you been on a daphne course - so that you are able to get a better understanding of how food affects your blood glucose levels? (apologies if I have misunderstood what you mean by 'two injections')
You are right to reduce your insulin dose, though you don't say by how much, and when you are eating in relation to the exercise.

Unfortunately it's hard to offer guidance without understanding better exactly what you are doing - if you can clarify your insulin/diet and exercise regime it should be possible to give you some more useful advice.
