Problems with new test strips.

Hi. I've been given a test meter by the Diabetes nurse at my doctor's surgery.

I've just also been given a new prescrition for test strips and have a problem with the new batch. When I try to use them, the meter shows EEE. It works fine with the other (original) chip in the unit but not the new on with the new strips.

One thing I've noticed is that if I search for Accu-Check Active meters on Google, all the images show the strips have an ORANGE marker on them, the same as the new batch of strips from the chemist. However, the box for my meter shows a GREEN marker, and the original strips in the box had a green marker too. Is this the issue? I thought the new batch just had a different colour to go with the batch number being different. I can't find strips with green markers on them to buy for the Accu-Check Active and come to that, I can't even find a meter that looks like mine.

So my question is, should the colour of the strips ALWAYS match the original colour and if so, why do all the Active strips have a different colour to the ones I've used so far.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure but if you ring the Accu-Chek helpline they'll answer your question. I thought all the Accu-Chek meters now came with a black chip that you leave in the meter permanently, if the old chip is black then you could just use that if the error message disappears....but do check with the helpline first.

Accuchek blood strips have to have the reader code of 111 in their machines. They used to have a reader in everybox of strips, but not anymore. Unless accuchek expert machines have 111 codes in them they will not work.. Check the code on your reader...
