Procrastination

Well done Gudrun, You are going in the right direction.
I have been told that caffeine is not good for sleep, a cup of coffee or two in the morning won't interfere with sleep at night.( also many over-the-counter pain relievers etc; contain caffeine ).

Procrastination was one of my major problems before I started on thyroid meds and is a common symptom of hypothyroidism but affects most areas of get-going, not only starting a better diet. Hypothyroidism is well known to cause weight gain as well.

As for breakfast I eat either full fat Greek yoghurt with shredded coconut or bacon and eggs, occasionally a cheese omelette. If I find I need a snack I have a piece of cheese or some nuts or olives.
 
I eat the same as Totto for brekkie. Sometimes I have 97% meat sausages or smoked mackerel. Why don't you have a snack and eat later? Remember you can eat unlimited green veggies and have a big piece of oily fish or meat. Tonight we are having panfried salmon with Puy lentils and wilted spinach.
 
Have you tried eating your evening meal a bit later to avoid being hungry in the middle of the night? Have you tried a glass of water instead of your midnight feast?

Fruit is an odd one because of the quantities of fructose in it. Be careful what you put in your fruit salads. Grapes aren't very good, neither are oranges. try a berry mix one.

For breakfast I have a natural full fat yogurt and throw some berries in it (raspberries/blackberries/the odd strawberry) plus a mug of tea. I used to have cornflakes with milk and a large glass of orange juice - not any more. It's surprising how much that one change has made.
 
Thank you, all. I tried out some grapes earlier (bought them a couple of days ago). Small slice of cheddar cheese with 20 grapes. I measured before I eat and 2 hours after. BG had actually gone down (from 6.3 to 5.3 after eating). So it seems that grapes will be ok. But I will try it again a few times (at different times of the day) and check again and again before I put it on my 'free-to-eat' list.

Tonight I had a chicken breast with white sauce (a little bit of cornflour only, milk, crispy bacon bits), with cauliflower and runner beans. My BG went from 5.3 (before the meal) to 8.4 (2 hours after the meal). I didn't think that anything but the cornflour could have caused that jump, but I only used about 1 tsp. Really not much, so I'm a little disappointed.

Still, I now have 3 good days in a row and feel positive.
 
Oh, and I have just seen that I have got 3 trophy points. What does that mean?

Oh, I see (about trophy points). Thanks for the explanation.

I had a portion of Quark with low fat creme fraiche, raspberries and some desiccated coconut at 8:00pm. Didn't check my BG before, but checked now (2 hours later) and it's 6.3. So I'm happy with this as a snack. It was very tasty and I think I'll use it as a breakfast as well sometimes.

3 good days without potatoes, bread, rice, pasta... I feel good (well, better then when I eat loads of bread), but will have to see if I'm just imagining it or whether low carbs will improve fuzziness of the brain.

I'll keep checking. I had a glass of milk with my dinner as well, perhaps that spiked the BG? Must measure milk on its own (before and 2 hours later).
